A+, would weep again (and again and again) at the sight of the small vessels. Other than that, all my TC feels, good gods.

Your TC feels have been sparked? It's been a while....

(So quiet, compared with days of yore.)

Well, there's nothing wrong with that!

I didn't think I'd like but I'm pleased to have been proved wrong! I'm so out of the habit of going to cinema regularly that I never see trailers and for some reason I thought it was going to be offputting Hollywood-style heroics, so it was your post that sparked me to go. Great film, I'm glad I went to see it.

I haven't seen either of those, so I think I'm lacking a reference point for something like that.

There's a bit in TC about a defeated army coming face-to-face with undefeated navy which I suddenly recalled at one point (but can't be arsed to look up properly), but the navy didn't really seem that victorious, or at least not in the time scale depicted in the film: it came across like a navy that knew its limitations and was painfully aware of the need to fight another day.

And what struck me—possibly because no matter how much I tried, I couldn't tell the pilots apart—the film didn't go for big individual heroics: it was mostly little ones that together and with lots of hope made the difference. Of course we had more individual moments for the little crew of the Moonstone, but there was always a sense that they were just one in a crowd.

I've not yet seen it and probably won't for several weeks but I have leave (proper leave where I go away, not just rest at home and catch up on chores) in August so maybe can see it them. And who knows...I might just be inspired to do some TC writing....
