Fell out of bed and hurt my back this morning, but since that resulted in fic-writing after months I've no complaints. In fact, to keep it going, please prompt me for trope AUs? Coffee-shop, grad student, body-swap, you know the sort of thing. Realism is not on the table.

Fandoms are Harry Potter, The Charioteer, Alexander Trilogy, Mahabharata, and whatever bits and pieces you know I'm familiar with. I am currently addicted to The Musketeers, which is pretty and deadly and in which everyone is mutually shippable, and Penny Dreadful, where S02E01 had Vanessa pelting down the stairs to hug Sir Malcolm to the great joy of my cynical heart. So if you follow those, feel free to have at it.

'Husband in a coma' is my favourite, any fandom. Lots of tears and regrets and preferably a pretty medically-unrealistic waking-up scene.

Oh man I love the Musketeers too! Constance/D'Artagnan/Lemay FTW! Even though Marc Warren is the hottest, creepiest thing alive in the show.

If you felt like having D'Artagnan pining over his comatose husband AND wife!?!

I'm not sure about "trope AUs", but I can certainly take realism off the table....

How about an unexpectedly broad-minded Straike re his less-than-manly stepson? (I know it's been done; but it was only done adequately.) Bonus points if it has something to do with a straight Straike's school experiences with a certain Mumps Jepson. And/or how Mumps got his name.

(Okay, theoretically this could be realism, I suppose.)
