comic book shows

So Fox is making Lucifer into a tv-show. I really wish they wouldn't. It's a comic I love, and I don't see why the LAPD or therapists need to be involved and I'm incredibly afraid a lot of cheap laughs will be had. Also the only casting I approve of is making Amenadiel black, though since Amenadiel is the de-facto antagonist that is also maybe not a good plan; why the hell is Lucifer son of morning, who is suspiciously pretty and golden in the comics (not to mention elsewhere) black-haired and stubbly? ugh. ugh ugh ugh.

Not a comic book show and incredibly loved is of course Penny Dreadful, which is continuing to explore sexualities and award just-slightly-off daddy/daughter cuddles to Malcolm and Vanessa, both of which I am heart-eyed about.

"So Fox is making Lucifer into a tv-show."

I had a look at the trailer (since you put the link in). Much eye-candy. This is not necessarily a bad thing. On the other hand, it is far less of a good thing than Hollywood ever thinks it is.

If it actually makes it beyond the pilot, then we shall see, I suppose.

The number of comic-book red-heads who mysteriously turn dark on screen....

(Speaking as a red-head, you understand.)

Lucifer the bearer of light. Yes, indeed.

For some reason, Hollywood likes its Caucasian men to be dark-haired. You do get dirty fair; even a few blonds (especially when the leading men come in pairs, as in buddy cop shows). But there is a definite preference for medium brown to black hair.

Of course, there's also the whole devil-is-evil and evil-is-black thing. They're not subtle out there in California. (Flat out simple at times.)

And no one takes Latin nowadays.
