Briseis

For [livejournal.com profile] fawatson , who asked for Ptolemy-Bagoas, here.

And Odysseus must comfort Akhilles, and pry from his arms unbreathing Patroklos. A lifetime gone, and all the friends, and now the lover, and only the brother (brother in blood, your blood and his, and the golden child this grieving man) is left. You alone are left.

And this boy who turns so effortlessly invisible and so easily turns heads and tends to his lover (your brother) with such gentle hands and such efficiency. Such love (and the word is a dart) that he is less than alien, your brother’s boy. His Briseis.

Alexander-fic

So I've been writing Alexander-fic at [livejournal.com profile] maryrenaultfics for the past month and a half, or something close to it. These are the stories I've written, in roughly chronological order: 'Etiquette', 'Regicide', 'Worship', 'Petite Morte', 'Eros/Agape', 'Roxane', 'Thanatos', 'Alexander, too', 'Marriage Rites', 'Gamos', 'Patroklos', 'Disavowal', 'Achilles and Patroklos', 'Teleute'. The reason it's not entirely chronological is that Gamos is told in fits and starts, and by Drypetis, instead of Hephaistion, who is the narrator for all the other stories, save 'Roxane', and covers the events of Marriage Rites, Disavowal, and Achilles and Patroklos.

This is the post for Achilles and Patroklos. I own nothing, but of course.
