to warn or not to warn

I once began to write an Iliad fic for some sort of fest, and looking at the warnings (this was before triggers were a thing in fandom) dispiritedly quit.

Myself I go for content notes, but I tend to assume people reading my fic are aware of canon, events and characters both.

Well, on AO3 at least, you do have the option of choosing not to warn. :)

A blessing, and I don't mind warning for death or rape or violence, but the whole debate about whether or not to use trigger warnings and whether trigger warnings are themselves triggering, etc, give me a pain in the neck.
