How it works: reply with "Oh! Shiny" and I'll choose three of your icons. Tell me about them: where they came from, what they mean to you, and/or when you deploy them. Drop a link here to your post in your own journal. Spread it around.

She gave me three that I actually made recently, in the wake of the tumblr debacles.

I cropped this from a photoshoot about Varanasi, it's the dangling feet of someone painted blue to play Krishna; probably a bahurupi. It's my krishna icon, used mostly for posts about the god, epics, Hindu mythology, etc. My favourite god, master manipulator in my favourite epic, so I... well I don't actually talk about my religion a whole bunch on dw, but I do write Mahabharata fic, so it seemed apt in my last round of icon-making.

This is Peter O'Toole from--i think--Lord Jim. He's my face-claim for Ralph Lanyon, one of the romantic leads of The Charioteer, a merchant-navy sailor and RNVR officer who canonically has the nervous tic of touching his collar for reassurance. He's neurotic and disabled and queer and fucked-up; I love him more than I can easily explain.

So a few years ago there was a Buzzfeed article about men with mehndi looking stunning, by the always awesome Imaan Sheikh. I immediately incorporated the look into my personal headcanon of traditional West and South Asian masculinity, which was and is very different from Western, especially Anglo constructs of the same, and absolutely incorporates cosmetics and jewellery, not as a rebellious or punk or genderfluid thing, but as part of normative masc. presentation.

An old-school activity for an old-school fandom.

Twenty-one icons under the cut )

As always, free for the taking.

 SO is now on dw as [personal profile] bee_muse because she can't log in to her [personal profile] filia_noctis account which was empty anyhow and has started on the [community profile] snowflake_challenge. Her first entry is here.

Also! I enjoy some of the things the Troy show does, especially about material culture, but uh.
I'm not really watching for the plot.

For [personal profile] seleneheart, who asked for Sense8 icons among other things. These are from the series finale, and uh, NSFW because did you watch the series finale? Happy Endings all around.

under a cut because nsfw even though in 100x100 form )

Icons

As always, these icons are gakkable, credit is nice, hotlinking is bad.

Photos mine.

i particularly love Shumon's 'wtf is wrong with that boy' expression.

and, aw, charlie hadn't quite accepted that mikhail was dead. tch.
toujours_nigel: Greek, red-figure Rhea (Default)
So I went trolling for Kaminey icons ([personal profile] applegnathaving provided the links) and I really liked them. However. There were no Charlie/Mikhail icons. Indeed, there weren't any Mikhail icons at all. So, well, this being me, and me liking slash, and having nothing else to do (for which I shall pay next weekend, oh my), I sat through and capped all the Charlie/Mikhail bits of the film (yeah, poor dear me, right?) and realised, among other things, that it's very difficult to get a decent frame without them both in it. I am not kidding, I didn't look through these to find the stuff I iconned.( Now, a clear print, otoh)

So, anyway, anyhow, now that you're all so very entranced by this explanation, the second lot of Kaminey icons, ta-ra.

As usual, taking is all good, credit is nice but not needed, and hotlinking makes Charlie burn cocaine, as on his lover's metaphorical funeral pyre.

15 icons, Charlie/Mikhail )

Expect a Sweety-Guddu batch, sometime. Krishna knows when.

So today this woman came up to me and asked at length:

(a) Whether  I was in English Hons;
(b) Which year I was in;
(c) What tuitions I took;
(d) Ditto for classmates;
(e) Which teachers tutor privately.

We eventually fed her to Grendel, but he just got confused, and she, sadly didn't get dissuaded. tch. If only the White Knight had been around, too.

So, anyway, I've purchased the Kaminey DVD, yay!

And I lovelovelove how easily the auto-contrast in Photoshop makes the very dark snaps I lift much easier on the eye. *missed iconning*

here be the first few icons )

Credit is nice, free-for-all, hotlinking is a terrible thing.

More soon.

a.k.a the train-trip fic [livejournal.com profile] 22by7asked for. (hope you like it).

This is:

a) not mine.
b) slashy.
c) rated R.
d) post-film.
e) AU.
f) the first part of possibly three.

In which certain difficulties can be solved with retail therapy and other prove rather more difficult to deal with. )

And also, I made two icons:

I've been tagged by [livejournal.com profile] hulamoth to put up six icons, and post their explanations.

my six )my six )

None of them have very interesting explanations, 'm'fraid.

Because I'm going to fail and don't care. Anyway, credit is nice, hotlinking is not, take whatever you want.
A leetl Jeremey Irons, a leetl Sir Ian McKellen, a leetl Gregory Peck, a leetl Cary Grant, and a hel lotts Katherine Hepburn, because the woman's hot like burning, okay. (and, yes, I know you know why I posted these together, shush.)

More of what [info]fawatson rightly calls displacement activity, as neither my Old English translation nor my [info]lgbtfest story are budging an inch.

As always, everyone can have, I like credit, hotlinking makes babies sad (or puppies, whichever you like better).

And, as a bonus for me (and you, should you be so inclined):

yes, shtoopeed pun, I know, ne'er mind. Also, I have a test tomorrow. Woe is me.

As always, you're free to take, I like credit and hotlinking is frowned upon.

My [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest posting days are April 16th for the 'institutionalised homophobia among the Aurors' story, and April 18th for the 'pure-blood is shocked to find out that homosexuality is frowned upon among Muggles' story.

I wanted to do other fandoms, but Pratchett scares me, so no Discworld, and movie-fandoms I can't write in because I don't have them at hand, and The Charioteer I cannot write because [livejournal.com profile] my_cnnr scares me, and I'm a little afraid of the MR fandom, still.

Anyway, have some icons, because I have a test next Thursday, and a paper on The Other Boleyn Girl due before the 20th, and these stories, and other things, I'm sure, will crop up, and icons are brain candy.

These are for [livejournal.com profile] indianlit which [livejournal.com profile] fireshowers and I have started:

And these are because... well, because:

Thassall, ladies and gen'lemen, and darling people of other persuasions. Taking is a compliment, credit is a courtesy, hotlinking is cursed at with great creativity. Ciao.

I'm supposedly writing a paper on science, religion and politics in literature, having chosen to work on Phillipa Gregory's The Other Boleyn Girl. The abstract was (and pay close attention to that word) due on Friday. I have written it, but I detest what I've written, and am not in the mood to re-write it.

So, to assuage my guilt, and pretend that I'm doing related work, I've been iconning. As usual. *sigh* I need therapy.

In other, utterly unrelated news, I've finally started work on the GGP. Two parts down, thirteen to go. This week seems promising. :(

and complete inability to stay away from stupid puns. Oh, and my apparent obsession with making icons, and the fact that I'll make new ones at the drop of a hat, with or without a decent excuse, but y'all already knew that, right? (Also, not that I think anyone in their right minds will want it--either, really--taking is fine, credit is nice, hotlinking is frowned upon.) That is all, for the time being.

Also... no, I really think I'm done. ;)

oh, and while we're on the topic, this was made courtesy a comment by [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge , here:
