Pick any story I've written, or, in the case of my longer, chaptered works, any chapter from any story I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you the equivalent of a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you’d expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

Not a single selection, but a query: what led you to decide to keep writing stories in the "Conditions Best Suited" future? It's turned into quite a series.

It wasn't really much of a conscious decision. I'm too lazy to have more than one headcanon for any given character, so it became a de facto series long before I linked it all up. Ralph was always going to be from comfortably settled yeomanry; he and Alec were always going to be friends forever; I'd been cherishing doubts about Ralph/Laurie lasting for a few years, etc. All very organic. If you mean why write future fic at all, mostly to see Ralph older and more at ease in his skin.

I know what you mean about headcanon. I've had much the same experience in another fandom.
