He blinks awake, pulls his arm—gently, carefully—from the shoulder it is trapped beneath, extricates his legs from the tangle of bedclothes and limbs, rolls to one side. Rolls off the bed, careful to disturb it as little as possible—wouldn’t do to wake him. Washes away sweat and semen. Dresses in crisp cotton, pushes his wand into its shoulder holster, drapes silver-edged scarlet robes over. Gathers up cloak and Auror badge. Ignores the sleep-laced “Fabi?” from the bed. Walks out the door, pulls it shut and leans on it a moment, breathing through the guilt. Straightens and Disapparates.
