Arthur’s Court Reconvenes

Or so it seemed at last night’s party at Godric’s Hollow, the Potters’ sprawling family estate. Fairy-lights glittered, jewellery sparkled and champagne flowed freely as the crème-de-la-crème of British Wizardry gathered to welcome their newest addition—Lily Evans-Potter, James Potter’s blushing bride.

The lovely Miss Evans was Potter’s classmate at Hogwarts and Head Girl in their final year. But even her much-vaunted Gryffindor courage failed her as she stood alone, bewildered by the complex courtesies to which her husband has been bred. Even the lovely Mrs. Malfoy’s gracious words failed to reassure her. An odd choice, this girl for Dorea Black’s successor, but Arthur’s Court seemed well-pleased with his Guinevere.

As our faithful readers know, the title was bestowed by Charlus Potter on the brood of Pureblood heirs raised by his wife, Dorea. Arthur’s Court consisted of Bellatrix Black (Morgana), Andromeda Black (Nimue), Lucius Malfoy (Merlin), Narcissa Black (Vivien), Frank Longbottom (Perceval), Sirius Black (Lancelot), James Potter (Arthur), Regulus Black (Galahad) and Bartemius Crouch, Jr. (Mordred).

In recent years, due to political differences between their fathers (and doesn’t it do a parent’s heart good to see such obedient boys and girls?) the Court had been in fragments. Last night, however, only Morgana was conspicuous in her absence. It remains to be seen whether now, after the deaths of Abraxas Malfoy, Charlus Potter, Orion Black and Octavius Longbottom, their sons can rebuild their childhood intimacies and alliances.

Dorea Potter was a great advocate for unity among the Tribes, and, by bringing up the scions of different Clans, hoped to end the internecine feuds. Will the fiery new Mrs. Potter carry on her mother-in-law’s torch? Guinevere brings, at least, a touch of colour to the starkly black-and-white group. Now, if only we could find an Elaine to tie down the dashing Mr. Black. But everyone’s favourite bad-boy looked, as usual, coolly indifferent towards all the beautiful young heiresses trying to catch his eye, instead discussing politics with Mr. Potter and Mr. Malfoy. Ah well, can’t have everything. We’re keeping watch, and, if anything happens, you’ll know it first from Rita Skeeter.
