Recently read An Indecent Obsession, which was better than I'd hoped given its attitude towards queerness. Even more unfortunately, because McCullough is a subtle-ish author said attitude only became obvious after I'd talked myself into including Alec Deacon in the recent past of the novel, and now I'm stuck making sad grabby hands.

I took myself off to a cheap second-hand bookstore today, and then to even cheaper stacks laid out on the pavements.

The loot is as follows, in order of price:
  1. James Clavell, King Rat, for Rs. 150
  2. Terry Pratchett, The Hogfather, for Rs. 125
  3. Jacquie Durrell, Beasts in My Bed, for Rs. 70
  4. Mary Stewart, Rose Cottage, for Rs. 10
  5. E.F. Benson, Mapp & Lucia, for Rs. 10
I should clarify that at the current exchange value Rs. 62.55 = $1.00.
