Day 2: In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.

Oh, this is *much* easier.

1. [livejournal.com profile] maryrenaultfics: comm. of my heart. ♥ I joined this within a few months of joining lj, and it has shaped my experience to a very large extent. It's centred on the works of Mary Renault, and conducts semi-regular book discussions (some books get discussed more than others) and hosts a vast array of fic and some art. It's currently f-locked, but honetly if you have even a passing interest in the author it is completely worth it to join the comm, since it's warm and friendly and just extremely mellow, and run by two of the nicest people, [livejournal.com profile] my_cnnr and [livejournal.com profile] trueriver, who go out of their way to facilitate members.

2. [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest is no longer active, but it's where I got to first read and eventually write what might be called queer-gen, and it was very precious to me at the time. [livejournal.com profile] queer_fest has taken over from it, but I've never really kept up with that, which I regret at times.

3. [livejournal.com profile] yuletide is I think my favourite challenge of the year, and it's something that I'm in awe of for its sheer existence. I'm aware that there are several problems with it, which cause heartache and unease, but in a rather blinkered and possibly childish way it's one of the bright spots of my fannish year and I love it dearly.

Day 1: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

uh. so this is really terribly difficult, since I can never properly gauge whether or not I like things I've written, and it was tempting to just put up the three newest or go by AO3 stats.

But anyway, here goes.

1. Our Hell is a Good Life was written for [livejournal.com profile] rs_career_fest in 2010, and despite being written to a prompt and further being heavily AU it incorporates a number of my headcanons about the Blacks, esp. all the overwrought melodramatic bits that never fit in other stories, and is sort of a window into my id. While it has nothing in common with those, it also hearkens back quite excellently to the sordid purple prose I committed in my adolescence.

2. While this is a sort of cheating, Imma give myself a pass because Krishna and Karn are essentially a duology and written as such, and they constitute a whole inside my head: in fact, they're missing a third bit which needs to get written. The uniting theme, if it can even be called that is the tension between Krishn's individual interactions with people and his larger plans where they're all usually pawns. um.

3. to race Thanatos. I think this was the first non-drabble thing I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] maryrenaultfics, or very close to it. Even if it isn't it's a fair example of the sort of thing I was writing at the time: not very controlled, perhaps, but full of a feeling that is more subdued in the way I write now. It's also, as [livejournal.com profile] greerwatson put it, proof that the comm has raised [me] from a pup. *g*
