Day 8: In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created.

Thanks, I hate it! I'm gonna reserve the self-deprecation because that's primarily self-loathing with a dash of self-pity, and okay, these are the stories that have been most difficult for me to write, for whatever reason. Because I'm perfectionist and masochistic, they're also my favourites. Please pay attention to all tags and warnings if you read them.

jadidang hridayang (4346 words)

The Thousandth Man (6569 words)
Fandom: The Charioteer - Mary Renault

not reached the stars (4856 words)
Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling

your turn in the field with the god (11731 words)
Fandom: Hadestown - Mitchell, Greek and Roman Mythology

I am happy to talk about any of these or any other fic at length if asked, but even doing this much is freaking me out so. uh.

I find it endearing that the ones hard to write are your favorites. Sounds like you really enjoy delving deep for your stories.

I read a bit of "not reached the stars" and was really struck by the line, "Every betrayal is a return to some more ancient loyalty, and Remus was only the last of the men to whom Sirius had sworn his heart, or not the last, not the last, if Voldemort was there, if Voldemort is dead."

Such sorrow and heartbreak.

I still think "The Thousandth Man" is one of the cleverest, unique stories written in Renault fandom, so I'm glad you did this and reminded me to re-read it.

Well, you've had me re-reading "The Thousandth Man" again. It really is a remarkable story; and I commend you ... all over again!
