It's different if it's fic, though, isn't it? Fic also has dozens of happy domesticity shippy fic for Queliot. If an assault becomes canonical that's... and this show does assault well so consequences will unspool forever.

Any permutation of Quentin-Eliot-Margo, Penny-Anybody, Fen-Julia, and of course, Jules and Q on an adventure! I've been yelling that whenever they're in cahoots since season 2, but season 3 gave me so many scenes of them working together I don't think my face has ever hurt so much from smiling.
I think, it's easier for us to draw a line with fanfic and fanart, to keep it in the realm of "not the actual thing". Which is why people have been harassing creators since Louisa May Alcott's time, in order to have their ship be canon (and then to promptly bash other ships with that cannon).

I was certainly not expecting to like Fen as much as I do! She really came into her own in Season 3, especially with Julia.

Date: 2019-01-15 10:37 am (UTC)So many things came into their own in Season 3! But Fen, wow, I really enjoyed her struggling with the loss of her child and her reconciling her anger at the fairies with her compassion for what they were undergoing on Earth. I loved watching her grow. She's a fierce, determined person who loves Fillory deeply and we got to see it more clearly in this season. I think about how it must have been to grow up knowing that you were pledged to marry the High King, a promise made long before you were born. Resenting the hold these Children of Earth had over her life and her fellow citizens, and joining the FU Fighters because of it. Yet loyal enough to her family and wise enough to know that being married to the High King would put her in a place where she could help her people, struggling throughout it all to establish a good relationship with Eliot. She's acting High Queen of Fillory now and I can't wait to see what she does with it.
